A VINTAGE SUMMER WEDDING!

Posted on July 30, 2013 at 7:27 AM Comments comments (0)
So, in a sweet church in Orsett, Essex, Moss Bloss created what has been described as "Firework Flowers"!  Well yes, delphiniums, larkspur, Alba roses, Astrantia, Bouvardia and a mixture of greenery created a floral explosion in the church.  Taking some of the displays back to the reception was tricky (so thanks DR for your help and muscle!).  The table decorations stayed fresh and sweet scented in the marquee on a hot day, the air filled with scent of rosemary, mint, and lavender with alchemilla mollis for a shabbby chic look, to compliment the vintage brooches on the wrist corsages which were finished with Spray Rose "Vivienne", sprigs of rosemary and finished with silver wired pearls, complimenting the buttonholes.  Simple, timeless, shabby-chic!

Moss Bloss were very proud to have been part of this most special day!
Thanks also to Dave Marsh for the lovely photos - [email protected]   http://www.mbs-services.co.uk/

Blooms on a budget!

Posted on November 16, 2012 at 6:05 AM Comments comments (0)
It's very easy to think that by tightening the purse strings we cant get creative displays that pull on the heartstrings!  Recently I used end of season hydrangeas from the garden with some ivory Scallions (small spray chrysanthemums), which  trust me - lasted AGES!!!.  I mixed these with some fruiting ivy and gypsophila and centred everything around an ivory pillar candle.  The hydrangeas had started shedding some of the fuller petals, however the partially exposed seed heads added depth and texture to the arrangement.  You don not have to get all your flowers and foliage from commercial outlets!  If you can, forage around (literally) and you'll be amazed at what you can find.  An obliging wedding florist (talk about a hint!) will always be happy to accommodate your chosen (and picked) blooms!

On a practical note - using blooms from your own or others; gardens (most people I know I very happy to let  loose with secateurs in a good cause!!) will keep costs down!  On a purely creative note however - this could be part of a bride's "something borrowed" for her bridal flowers and wedding arrangement, but even if the flowers and foliage are used for a different event,  (sympathy, event, christeneing - whatever you choose) - it will add to that very special personal touch!!

The photo quality is not brilliant I know (apologies!), however the overall effect is warm, soft and textured.  My bride was really pleased "it had that soft, country garden look I really wanted".  I am always happy when a plan comes together!

WEDDING FLOWERS VENDELA ROSE RECEPTION DISPLAY!

Posted on September 21, 2012 at 8:12 AM Comments comments (8)
WEDDING FLOWERS KENT FLORIST USING VENDELA ROSE FOR PEDESTAL DISPLAY AT RECEPTION!
Here' the thing, there are just SOOOO many beautfiful feature flowers for a bride to choose for her wedding, that there is a danger of just sticking to the one you know best or that you have seen countless times!!!  My new  favourite is the Vendela Rose!  Not quite as big a bloom as the ubiquitous Avalanche (although that is STILL a gorgeous choice for wedding flowers!), and larger than the more refined Akito Rose!  A creamy colour, can look almost the lightest peach, depending with which foliage you put it!  It is long lasting and adds a warm depth to a pale background, lifting paler foliage !  Have a look at this stunning pedestal !  Simple use of Vendela roses, white phlox and ivory stocks gave an elegant look this very large reception display!  So many positive comments were given!  A gorgeous addition to a wedding recption decoration
                    - a marquee in a Kent garden was the perfect framework for this floral display!
